The instructions recommend installation by an electrician. Since there was a long wait list, we installed the fan ourselves with minimal prior fan installation experience. The directions are adequate but not detailed. We ended up relying more on the schematics than the written directions, especially for the wiring. After several missteps and because the directions are not explicit, we learned the fan can only be assembled in a certain order. I recommend reading the directions several times before starting, The existing electrical box had to be updated and replaced with a fan box. While we were tempted to skip this step, the fan is now secure and less likely to wobble and loosen the screws. There are many things to like about this fan. The packaging is good and prevents shipping damage. I love the retractable blades. The air flow is strong and can be felt in most of our 9 X 12 room. The “whisper-quiet motor” scares the dog, but I can’t hear it. Some minor concerns are why I rated the fan a four. The packaging advertises LED lighting but no bulbs are included. Bulbs and batteries must be on hand to test the installations. The wire nuts did not work well even with taping, causing frustrating loose connections when we tried to put all the wiring into the housing. I never did figure out why a single white glove was included in the packaging. Is it for cleaning the plastic blades? It’s never mentioned. Inspection stickers are difficult to remove. My biggest concern is that the fan can only be operated with the remote. There are no pull chains or switches on the fan. If the remote is lost or stops working, the fan will be inoperable.

I spent a lot of time reviewing various fandeiiers. I picked this one for a variety of reasons but it is clearly stated not once, but twice, this Parrot Uncle fan/light includes “FROSTED GLASS” .
I just opened the box and it is PLASTIC. CLEAR PLASTIC! Not frosted. Not glass. It’s a cheap piece of plastic ! NOT HAPPY!

The fan has a very unique design where the blades collapse into place when you turn it off, and it has a nice “industrial” look. Installation was not too difficult, but the instructions were not very clear. It comes with a single white glove and no explanation about what that is for. It also comes with a safety cable which is required for sale in Canada, so the first thing I did was remove that. They provided no guidance at all on where to put the remote receiver box, so you just have to guess at where to squeeze it in just above the fan hanger bracket (and I do mean squeeze it in; see photo), and the antenna must hang outside of the fan housing which doesn’t look very good. They put a green inspection sticker on the outside of the fan that was annoyingly difficult to remove (see photo). The blades on the fan are very small and don’t make much of a breeze even at high speed. But the most annoying thing about the fan is that it’s very noisy. The product description says that it has a “whisper-quiet motor” – that is totally UNTRUE. Also, as long as there is power to the fan, even when it’s off, the receiver box makes a low humming sound.
Overall, I would not recommend this fan to anyone.

Had recently installed new light and thought I didn’t need ceiling fan. Then I installed this light/fan combo and realized I needed fan all along, as well as light. I like the fact it can take 4 light bulbs that I choose, so I went with the LED Edison type of bulbs, dimmable. Works great with lowest light setting as well as on full bright. The fan is quiet and move air just fine. I twill put a chill on you for sure! All in all, looks great, nice light, and nice fan.

I was looking for a compact ceiling fan to replace the cheap one which came with my house. This fan has a really good industrial look and just the right size. It has an interesting design where the blades retract or collapse to the sides of the motor housing so it looks even better when not running.
Because the blades open with centrifugal force, the fan can only operate in one direction – blowing air down. There is no reverse option that some people use in winter to draft air up.
Poor description lists this as “LED”, but no bulbs are included.
Then in the description it says “E26 incandescent bulbs” which contradicts the LED description. I installed 4 regular LED blubs – worked great. I’m sure incandescent or LED will work fine.
Wi-Fi is easy to set and simple to set dip switches to operate on a unique channel. Then I paired this fan’s wi-fi with my Bond smart hub enabling me to control this with Alexa. Setup was simple, voice operation simple – but you do need a controlling hub (like the Bond). Next is installed 4 smart bulbs which also work great (you just need to leave the wifi light control ON, so the smart bulbs always have power.
This is an excellent product which was easy to install (with patience) and adds a great industrial look to the room you choose.

This a nice, modern looking ceiling fan with retractable blades. It works well for a small room. I installed mine in the kitchen and it provides great lighting and a very nice breeze. The fan runs very quietly. You can hear the hum of the motor, but it is not too loud. You can only hear the blades at the highest speed. It is very steady and does not move, even at the highest speed. You can choose between three options for the light temperature, you have a bright white, a warm light, and a combination of both. It is very bright no matter which temperature you choose. What I think is missing on the remote, is an option to select the desired temperature. To select the temperature you want, you need to turn the light on and off and cycle between the three options. The one you select will come back next time you turn the light on, unless you turn it back on to fast, then it will select the next temperature option. It’s a bit annoying but not a deal breaker. I also found the installation instructions to be incomplete and missing some steps and information. It took me a little longer than expected to install, but, in the end, I was able to complete the installation and I am happy with the finish product.

I got this fan / light from . I opened the box and checked out the product. The product is made well. It looks like it will last a long time. I purchased a similar product a few years ago but didn’t last the elements even though it was enclosed outside but not in a heated area. The fan I had in my pergola, the fan blades started to sag. This fan will be perfect because the fan blades are made of hard plastic. With the fan blades being small and tucked away when not being used the blades will not sag or break.
I also like that I can use the light without turning the fan on. Additionally, it fits in confine places.
I didn’t install it yet due to the holidays, but the product is easy to assemble and install. I opened up the instruction manual and they were simple and very user friendly to all.
I can’t wait to install the product. I would highly recommend this product. This will be a great addition and will fit well in my outdoor pergola. For the price, it’s a great value. I have been doing lots of research on outdoor fans and found this to have great reviews. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking a a fan.

Well, I’m hooked on ceiling fans with remotes now. I don’t know how I ever lived this long without them! The style of the fan was different than anything we’d had previously so we weren’t sure how it was going to go over. We love it! It’s a nice “industrial look”. It does move a good bit of air (which was something else we weren’t sure about). The remote though…controls light…controls fan speed. It’s awesome! The only drawback to this item…and maybe I’m the only one? It came with no instructions in the box. On the plus side, if you’ve installed a few ceiling fans? You’ll do ok without them.

Looks nice under a covered porch but barely a breeze is felt. So if you’re looking for a strong fan don’t go with this one. I’m pretty disappointed but now don’t want to put forth the effort of taking it down and replacing it. Putting it together was fairly straight forward, though. Definitely put as much of it together as possible, including the remotely box before mounting. Someone mentioned to do that in a prior review and it helped.

I have been a homeowner for nearly forty years, 4 properties, and have installed nearly 2 dozen ceiling fans in my lifetime for myself and others. I consider my skills and experience above average having plumbed and rewired 2 of those properties to code along with other extensive projects. Parrot Uncle, not a brand I am familiar with but I swear I entered this review with an open mind. I have always wanted a “hidden fan” type ceiling fan for a small bedroom since floor or desk fans are often in the way or annoying to place. That being said the fan was packaged in clever, efficient manner that would stand up to the roughest of handling but allowed easy removal of the contents. The contents are somewhat problematic. First many of the edges are plain and bare. Minimal rolling to add stiffness or strength to the product. I did not get cut or injured but you need to be careful handing the metal fan parts. Second no batteries for the remote (AAA) or light bulbs are included. Not a deal breaker but in my opinion it should be clearly marked on the outside of the box to reduce trips to the store. Third, the fan rattled and shook initially at the light fixture due to a nut that can not be tightened sufficiently so a spacer was fashioned from furniture felt pads. Fourth, the included wire nuts were of inferior quality and caused several disruptions of fan/light function despite over-taping with electrical tape. See photo below. The space available to insert the fan’s remote receiver is very limited. Fifth, the flat black finish mars easily, picks up fingerprints like it was made to. There is one supplied white glove to prevent fingerprints that was too small for my hands. One glove. Sixth, this is a very “industrial” appearing fan, be careful which decor you want to place it in. Seventh, read and re-read the instructions. They are poorly written and mixed fonts distracted me at times. The wiring explanation is especially annoying; just use the schematic drawing and it is for the better. You will either love or hate the appearance. It is available in other finishes. Once it is installed it does run fairly quiet and vibration free although I have had much larger fans run with less noise and vibration.

I’ve had a lot of ceiling fans, but none like this one. It has a cool vintage look with retracting blades. The spring loaded blades open when you start the fan and automatically close when motor slows to a stop. The blades are made of plastic probably for its outdoor rating. Not sure of long term durability but it seems solid. Some of the things you might want to consider – you need to use the remote control for speed, timer, and light controls. There are no manual controls but you can hardwire fan and light separately. Fan has 3 speeds but no reverse. Installing the fan is pretty basic as with other fans except you have an extra step of adding the remote control. It has straight-forward instructions. The light fixture is a little awkward to install the wiring and hold in place to attach the mounting hardware. Another set of hands wouldn’t hurt. Light bulbs and batteries for the remote are not included. I chose some vintage style LED bulbs for mine. Over all, I’m pretty satisfied with the fan so far.

This indoor/outdoor ceiling fan is terrific once you get it installed but it takes a good 3 hours to do the installation, at least it did for me. The instructions included in the package are very basic in as much as they give you a drawing and the steps but the explanation of the steps leaves a lot for you to figure out on your own. The support that you attach to the ceiling is larger than your normal electrical box so I had to do a bunch of adaptation to get the thing to screw it onto the box. In the end I was able to use different holes that were on the box and do so at an angle to barely get the screws in the holes! I also had to figure out what they meant as to where I should place the remote receiver in the box. It turns out that it needs to be placed above the support sort of on a little shelve that forms on the top. Once I figured that out it made more sense. I used the shorter down rod as I have a short ceiling that is also slanted so because I had to adjust the support the opening for the angle adjustment which allows the light to hand plumb was not on the proper side of the slant of the ceiling but in the end it hung plumb. The set up allows for a 15 degree slant so I was a bit worried it would be off but it wasn’t! Once I made the connections and installed the light portion of the product I was ready to test it out. The electrical connections are straight forward but for a person with no experience it could be explained better. After I put the power back on I saw the successful installation. Then I went to the remote control to see if it worked and figured out that when it did nothing that I had bad AAA batteries in it! I switched them out and it worked like a charm. The fan it amazing as it is very quiet and it uses centrifugal force to open up and close when you turn it on and off. When it is off it simply looks like an awesome industrial type light fixture. I really like it and look forward to having air circulation in my extra room.

Parrot Uncle fan F3501110V iluminates room very well, but the air that produces is very low. So if your are looking to vent and área this is not a good option. You are going to have and small brezze of it.
Anonymous –
I love the look of these fixtures and the discrete fan blades that hide away when not in use. Circulates a good amount of air for a smaller fan and really helps in my kitchen since I don’t have a vent hood. I put 95% of it together, including light fixture and wiring the remote receiver to the motor, before even hanging it. Then I only had to wire the reciever to the house wiring, maneuver the remote receiver into place, tuck all the wires into the cover, and attach the top cover to finish the installation. So much easier for this 50 yr old woman to install it by herself getting everything ready while it’s still on the ground rather than while it’s hanging over your head.

It took some digging to discover this fan is made by a company named Parrot. The paperwork accompaning this fan doesn’t brag about who makes it. The installation of this fan is unique because you don’t have to install the blades, a welcomed feature! The installation is relatively simple if you’ve installed ceiling fans before. Reading the instructions and watching a Youtube video or two should give you a bit more confidence if you want to give it a go (The paperwork recommends professional installation.) This “industrial” ceiling fan has an “industrial” appearance. I can’t vouch for the durability or toughness over time in outdoor conditions but the 34″ fan was a perfect fit to replace a bathroom fan from the 1980’s. The bulbs did not come with it but the “Edison” style LED bulbs seemed to fit. Unless you are installing this fan in a large, open area I’d stay away from the max rating of 40 watts for the bulbs as they are just too bright. Now for the coolest feature of this fan…The blades RETRACT!! It uses air pressure and a parabolic design to deploy them once the motor starts spinning. The three blades are made of a smoked plastic attached by one bolt on the motor housing. An ingenuitive design. Another feature I appreciate is NO PULL CORDS!!! The fan is completely remote controlled (some folks like to flip a switch or pull a cord but I’m done with replacing fan switches). Finally, the caged lighting shroud is the main “industrial” feature. Globes, glass covers, and complex lighting or wiring are a thing of the past for me….just two wires to connect the light fixture. I appreciate the easy-to-access bulbs surrounded by a wire cover requiring very little, if any, dusting. When it comes to cleaning the fan portion of the fixture, however, the design of the retractable fan blades may make it a bit more challenging. Overall I appreciate the ingenuitive design, the matte black finish (a little thin), ease of installation, and the remote control. The function and finish for me is worth the price.

Fan blades do not throw much air. Looks very cheap

So we needed a new ceiling fan in my wifes makeup room /office. I took down the old plain white one and installed this nice LED fan instead. I didnt realize until it was almost installed that the fan blades are already attached and come out when youbturn it on. Made this a really cool fan. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the installation. They just dont give you as much room to connect wires and attach screws to things. Also, i think the screws could be longer for deeper ceiling boxes. But all and all i really love the features of the fan and the LED lighting is super bright.

The concept of the fan is cute but it’s not quiet like my Hunter fan. I can definitely hear the motor run when the fan is on. If you buy more than one all remotes will be on the same frequency. We bought 4. You have to look up a YouTube video on how to change frequency. The video goes too fast and I had to watch it numerous times to figure out how to change the frequency. Jury is still out if I am going to keep them.

I installed this ceiling fan as an upgrade to replace an outdated unit. The new fan has blades that extend when it is turned on (as it builds speed) and they retract when turned off (as speed and centrifugal force decrease).
There are no pull strings, so the 3 speed fan and lights are controlled via remote control.
When the unit is activated, an audible click is heard as the receiver/controller inside the fan assembly activates the fan.
So far, so good. Only time can test the longevity. The remote uses 2 triple A batteries.
The breeze from the fan is strongest directly below the fan, but it is also felt at a distance.
The lighting comes from 4 bulbs (not included with light/fan) and provides good lighting as there are no domes or shades covering them.
During installation, I found the included directions to be lousy, but Parrot Uncle has a quick, animated video I found on YouTube that was better. A key step of interest is when hanging the unit in place, it is critical to align the notch and groove. Failure to do this causes the unit to hang crooked and creates a tight fit inside for the receiver/controller.

I wanted to change over an old ceiling fan in a spare bedroom and thought this was a nice option for a light without huge blades sticking out. I wasn’t familiar with the brand name but gave it a shot. It comes with a thick instruction manual, English, Spanish and French directions, print was kind of small for my old eyesight. I had to take photos and enlarge them. The fan blades and light shade are heavy plastic so they’re light but the fan overall is pretty solid. It was a bit difficult to mount the ball into the ceiling because you have a receiver that needs to fit in the electrical box. This receiver runs the remote control so there is also an antenna wire. The nice thing about the remote is it’s programmable with roll code combination so if it interferes with your garage door or car alarm you can simply change code combination in your transmitter and receiver. I really like how the blades fold out of site when their not in use and you have 3 fan speeds. The light could use more dimmable options to make it less bright. The fan does have a timer on the remote, 2-4-8 hour buttons to set the “fan” sleep timer. They do not recommend installing on a dimmer or variable speed wall control because it will permanently damage the remote control and the light will be inoperable. After getting it up and running it really is a nice looking light. The LED output is 34W it’s pretty bright. Just a reminder , before using the reverse fan mode, make sure the fan blades are completely stopped. This fan does give a good amount of breeze when on highest fan setting #3. I didn’t see any warranty information in the manual or packaging so I had to look it up on the website, it appears to have a 1 year warranty. It suggests a break in period of a week but so far I love it!

This fan/light is unique in that it has retracting fan blades. When the fan is off, they are barely visible and they spread wider as the speed increases. It has nice features that include three timer settings, three fan speeds, and only one electrical tap that operates both the light and the fan. I included a pic of the fan remote for more info. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star review is due to the tight space that exists when trying to fasten the beauty trim on the base. I found that to fully tighten the screws a right angle screwdriver was needed so be aware.

I like this fan, the light design especially. I am not sure about the plastic fan blades, but I really like that they disappear when not being used. Installation required the use of a down rod. It comes with one short and one long rod. But even with the short rod the fan is pretty long in my application. We’ll see how that works. I really like that each of the remote leads are labeled. No searching through the instructions for one color wire goes to what color wire. One issue during installation was the screws that mounted the fan bracket to the box. I was using a weather tight outdoor box and the screws were 1/4” too long and bottomed out. Had to get new ones. Also, the washers for the installation of the light kit are really easy to drop, (and in my case…lose). But the unit is pretty well made and the jokes were a good fit so I installed without the washers until I can get more. Last note, the description said it was good for exterior installation. In my protected location, I’m ok with that. I would not install this where it is subject to wet weather.

Received and installed the Parrot Uncle – 43-inch Black LED Indoor Ceiling Fan today. Installation took just under an hour, taking my time. Note: this fan was replacing and existing ceiling light in my office, so the receptacle and wiring were already in place.
The installation was straight forward. In line with the other 30 or so ceiling fans I’ve installed in our homes over the years. I will say that the mounting bracket that attaches to the ceiling receptacle is one of the sturdiest ones that’s come with a ceiling fan. The mount has rubber surrounds on the mounting holes and the bracket overlaps the ceiling receptacle and on to the ceiling sheetrock, but is well contained, as you can see in the pictures, under the cover. The two screws that attach it to the ceiling receptacle come with larger flat washers and smaller lock washers. The screws themselves are nice and long, overall, very secure and sturdy foundation to this ceiling fan & light fixture.
The only other advice I’d give from mounting this product is: 1) Skim the instructions to make sure you don’t skip any steps. May have just been me, but I thought the instructions were a bit disjointed, but everything you need is there; 2) The garnish nuts for attaching the light kit to the fan are preinstalled on the bottom of the fan assembly, don’t waste any time digging back through the box thinking you missed something … ask me how I know?! LOL!
I’ll get the proper lights for the fan tomorrow, I popped in the lights from the light fixture I took out, just to make sure it works, but I have to say four lights in this thing is plenty bright.
Overall, I’m a fan of this product [pun intended]! First fan I’ve used with self-extending and self-retracting blades … like it! Works great, looks even better. Highly recommended to family and friends!!
