The 4” trim ring that is to be installed on a 4” junction box is not wide enough and sinks into the box past sheetrock. If this piece was 4 and 1/2” it would sit flush with ceiling and make the install easier. I will never use these lights again.

This was a perfect update to my bathroom old lights. It is bright and it gives your room an updated feel. The retrofit was easy- just screw in the new lights- SIMPLE.
Worth every penny.
I’m very pleased with my new lights. I have more eyeball lights to change out in my house, so these will be my new go to recessed lighting.

Great lights just seem to quit working long before the 50k hours advertised

I was worried that this light would be a bit small for our laundry room, but it ended up being perfect. It is bright, which I love, but the type of light can also be changed. I always choose the bright daylight setting. It is small and sits flush to the ceiling. We have drop ceilings, so this was easy to install. We like this light so much, we went and brough more to brighten up our kitchen, which also has drop ceilings.
I will say that this light is perfect for our house, but it may be more difficult to install in a house that has regular ceilings. A hole has to be cut for the light to be recessed.
This light is also great because you can either wire it like we did, or you can screw it in to and existing light socket. I am not sure how that would work because most light sockets are not recessed.
The instructions were mostly pictures with very few words. This was fine for this light because they were easy to follow. For somebody who has not done a lot of home improvement work, it could prove a little more challenging.

I was sent a Utilitech 6″ LED Downlight for retrofitting an exiting can light or for original install in residential or commercial facilities. Looking for a simplified energy solution to offer. The Utilitech UT 6in LED Downlight offered just that, the adjustable 5 color ranges 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 6000K, 6500K, made it a breeze to match a comfortable color for any application. Downstairs recreation room, upstairs Kitchen, Living Room, Dining Room, Bathroom. The possibilities are endless.
Upon unpacking the UT 6″ downlight, the parts were very easy to understand. It can be retrofitted quickly into an existing ceiling can light (as shown in the video) or a stand alone new ceiling fixture. Great for closets, hallways. The first unit I installed was replacing a can light with a CFL bulb. Once I screwed in the pigtail, attached it to the light, I turned on the light and adjusted the color level to what everyone was used to. It happened to be 3000K in a basement recreation room. The first install took 8 to 10 minutes max. Great product.

I’ve been very satisfied with the lighting I’ve bought from under the Utilitech brand. This light has some very nice features. Here are the features I like:
1) Comes with all the hardware, including a metal box if you’re installing it as a new flush-mounted fixture.
2) It comes with a medium base screw in socket which my wife loved as she hooked it up to a desk lamp to see how bright it was before it got installed.
3) It can replace a canister ceiling light. It has the adapters included.
4) You can set the temperature to your liking. (I like cool lighting.)
Installed in my server closet over the closet door, it gives ample light as you can see from my pictures. (My server closet is just a coat closet with a ceiling fan to vent the hot air.)
It is so flat and flush it is difficult to photograph where it sits on the wall above the door, but I did my best. It fits nicely in that space above the door trim and ceiling. No more bulbs that can get bumped or broken when storing stuff in the closet.

Replacing some semi-flush lights. I was happy to see that there was an option for installation that didn’t require installing a recessed can. This light being 3 in 1 was a huge plus. It allowed me to use the existing junction box and wiring. Full install took maybe 5 mins. Turn off power. Uninstall previous light and bracket. Screw in the supplied bracket and use the quick connect adapter for the existing wires. Match black to black and white to white. Push and plug. Tuck in wires. Turn on and test what color you prefer. Push light into place. I really liked being able to have the different color temperature options because sometimes it’s hard to tell and know exactly what you want. Dimmable feature was also nice. Very minimal design. Seems decent quality. Only negative was slight delay turning on. Other two install options are the E26 screw in base for existing cans and a ceiling j box if one isn’t already there.

Getting these lights to sit flush against the ceiling is a real challenge. This is due to the poor design. I am using round junction boxes that are recessed just slightly into the ceiling. I would like to return them, but that becomes another waste of my time along with modifying the ceiling to accept something else. My suggestion is to find some lights that only require a hole in the drywall and not any kind of J-box.

This light fixture is (or would be) a perfect addition to my bathroom. It is designed for use in damp spaces, and the LEDs in the lamp allow the selection of 4 different color temperatures to match the color of the other bulbs in the room. It allows for 3 different type of installations: 1 for a new installation and 2 for use in the place of existing can lights. The reason I can’t call it perfect is that it does not install easily over the typical round junction box found where can lights are not already in place. It can be used there, but the old junction box will have to be removed and a new box (included) needs to be mounted.

Let me start by saying that I have been rating products from for some time now. This is the first product I was given that did not come in the retail packaging. The review is for a package of six lights, but I was sent a single light without any instructions at all. Included was some random mounting hardware that I was able to make work.
The light itself is pretty ingenious, allowing the end user to select from four light levels from wow that is bright to OH MY GOD that is bright. I opted to install the light (the single light I was sent) in a location that previously had a light that was removed. As you can see from the pictures it is pretty much what you would expect from a flush mount installation.
I first had to collect the tools needed to do the install, and these included a screwdriver, pliers and most important a multimeter. The meter is so you can check for voltage, so you do not die installing your new lights. I insured that the power was off after removing the cover, exposing all the wires jammed into the ceiling. Luckily, the included hardware included almost all the stuff you will need to complete your installation. There were extra things included, like an adapter to install the light into an existing can that has a screw in light. That would be handy I imagine. The other wires included had the proper connectors to allow connection between your wiring and the light. I really like the included connectors for the house wiring. These hold incredibly well. They also take up much less space in a crowded electrical box.
Once you have the light hooked up, it is time for the magic to happen. I have included pictures showing the difference in brightness.
Since I was able to do a direct mount I utilized the included adapter that screwed to the junction box, and the light simply clicks into place (once you have the adapter installed correct way up).
Overall, I really do like this light, and I would probably recommend them to anyone, but since I was not given the retail packaging I cannot say what kind of warranty is offered with the lights, and without any installation documentation I could not recommend this to anyone without at least a basic knowledge of how lighting works.

Several years ago I’d replaced our fireplace mantle can fixtures incandescent light bulbs with LED’s. At the time I’d not know about lights “K” color spectrum (1st learned after “seeing” glaring bright 6000K+ headlights coming at us on the road) Now this dimmable & “CCT” Selectable “K” color
gives us the option of a dim “warm” light for those rare cold south Louisiana winter nights when we’re enjoying time in front of our fireplace while still being able to deliver a “daylight” bright light to the room we enjoy most of the year in our area. I’ve a few pictures of our mantle lights having the new CCT LED in one fixture VS the LED’s I got before and it’s pretty remarkable “seeing the light”!
Also FYI “installing” this new LED in to our existing can light fixtures is light changing a light bulb with the simple “extra” step of clicking it in to the can fixture. No complex retrofit, it’s 100% K.I.S.S.

Wanted to like this light, but ultimately uninstalled them all and returned them because of multiple issues:
1) Has a hard time looking “flush” if your ceiling isn’t perfect.
2) Both on new and older Lutron dimmers, the lights felt incredibly slow starting up. Upwards of a second from hitting the switch to them actually lighting up.
3) The hangers are garbage, most of them pop off during install. No danger of falling, since once they’re in place they’re held pretty securely.. But very cheaply made.
4) Has trouble looking like they’re on at all near 10% – 15% using Lutron Caseta dimmers.
5) This one is subjective, but with the number of lights I have – they started looking pretty cluttered.
6) While the listing on the website advertises a night light – this thing definitely does not have a night light function or back / side lights to support such a function. should fix this listing as it’s very misleading and even the manufacturer has avoided the question in one of the Q&As.
With that said, they didn’t flicker or noise with my dimmers but the cons outweigh the pros. Returned all of them and got a much cheaper alternative that doesn’t have any of these issues and look more traditional.

The old incandescent spot light over my kitchen sink was showing its age and I wanted to focus on saving energy and swap out some of my existing lights. This is a great product for an easy upgrade that works well and was a super easy install. It took 10 minutes mostly because I had to bend the springs somewhat to fit my recessed fixture. It screws in like a light bulb and is spring loaded to hold in place. The ability to adjust the light temperature was also nice and I matched my dining light color. It changes color/temperarture by a switch on the back of the unit. There are 5 settings from warm to cool white. The 800 lumens produces a lot of light and my wife loves that she can see better while working in the sink.

First off let me start by saying this, these lights are very bright and light up the room like intended. They are also very nice looking lights, the adjustable light color and 3 ways to install made this an attractive buy. I Installed 70 of these in a new build home using the existing jbox option. 1) The first issue I found was the plate that the connects to the jbox is almost too small so it slips in past the Sheetrock. This wasn’t that big of an issue to me but an inconvenience nonetheless. 2nd) when you flip the switch there is a delay to when the light actually comes on, once again not a big deal but for the price it should be faster. 3) the lights keep falling out of the clip. They do not hold that well. I have had to push 6 lights back into the box since install (1 month ago). This is the biggest issue for me. It’s nothing to walk in a room and see a light just hanging. I haven’t found a way to fix this either. I’m pretty disappointed to pay $24 per light and it not hold in its bracket at the very least.

Got this in the mail today, Loop, and its virtually impossible to give a complete review as it came with no instructions on how to install it whatsoever. I consider my self an above average home do it yourself guy and I couldn’t figure out how to get this light properly mounted, but I did manage to get the most obvious adapter in place and test it out. With that disclaimer being said, the light seems very well made and would probably been a great upgrade to my recessed lights. The switch on the back easily allows you to change and pick one of three different tones of light. I personally preferred the warm one. That being said, with the proper installation instructions and getting six instead of only one, these would be great.

Pretty easy install in an existing can. There is a selection switch that lets you select the “type” of light you have. It can look like an old incandescent light to a bright new led.

UT 5 or 6 IN CCT 3-1 UNIV NGHTGLw White 5-in or 6-in 800-Lumen was very fast to ship and got it in a few days. The directions were very easy to understand and the contents in the package had all the hardware you need to install into an a fixture box that was already there or a new one that is provide with the light along with both a screw in light bulb base or for wiring.
I chose to install with a light fixture that was already there. I took the base plate and screwed it to the fixture box.. then i took the wiring and took the black (hot) into the designated hole and same with the neutral which was also labeled. after that i plugged it into the light and then attached it to the bracket.
The only thing that was not so great was the bracket that attached the light to the fixture it was a little stubborn but that was the only thing that took me the most to do. The light took me about 10 mins to install start to finish.
Overall I would recommend this item since you have several switches on the light to make it soft white to a super bright light.

This 3-in-1 recessed downlight with nightglow, (#MQTL1183-LED12K9027) will not work properly with the Lutron PD-6WCL dimmer, even though it is listed on the sheet the light comes with. It also states that it should be dimmable down to 10% with most dimmers, suggesting that for the listed dimmers. That also doesn’t work, at least with my scenario. I connected 4 of these lights to the Lutron dimmer mentioned and it is automated through a Caseta smart bridge. My lights are programmed to come on at 25%, but they do not come on at all. (Note that my previous LED lights worked perfectly, just didn’t like the color temp). When I attempt to manually turn these LED’s on, some randomly turn on with the nightglow and the remaining ones turn on with the standard light and stay out of sync with each other. And it’s never the same ones. It’s completely random and totally annoying and frustrating to say the least. If you have just one light, you may be alright. But the dimming probably still will not work as suggested. Very dissapointed. All I want is consistent lighting and operation. Thought the night glow feature would be cool, but just won’t work properly in this scenario. Now I will have to move them to an area that has a normal dumb switch with just one or two lights attached and hope they stay in sync between the standard operating light and nightglow feature.

I used the pickup option first I would not grab a box that was already opened and tape shut but Bothe boxes was previously opened and the one with one unit the light was missing ?

I bought these recessed lights because of the three way system which worked well for my situation. Wiring the fixture is very straight forward and easy to follow. I turned the power on and checked the light color and made the adjustment, great! Then, when I tried to push the light into the box, I could not push it in enough to make it flush. I just did it good enough but it still felt like it might jump out and scare the spots off my cat! So, I was still kinda excited about it even thought that detail isnt great, and turn off the light expecting to see the “Night Glow” feature which is an un charge for the fixture. However, i did not see the Night Glow feature at all in the fixture!! I went back to read the instructions again with the intension of finding details about the Night Glow feature and NOTHING! not a single word IN THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT the NIGHT GLOW feature. I feel like its a sham and now need to go back to and return these… Disappointed as i was excited about the night glow feature but not so much now.

My initial intention for this Utilitech downlight was to light up a certain dark area in my house. But after using the included test attachment that screws into a regular light bulb socket and trying the different light colors the wow factor of the different vivid colors and brightness changed everything. I decided to replace a globe light in our hallway with this downlight and I’m glad I did. This has proven to be a major
improvement both in appearance and luminance.
Instructions and included hardware provide 3 different choices for installation. If you choose plan C like I did then pay particular attention to number seven of the instructions and take notice of the spring position. Went in without a hitch much to my surprise. The chosen color after installation is fixed. For me, the instructions became clearer after I started the installation process. But then again I was never accused of being the brightest light in the hallway 🙂
This is a really good light, and the installation was absolutely worth the effort.

I really liked how easy they are to install. They have all the features I need, like dimming and changing from yellow to white light. I love the halo feature. It is great for ambience for parties or a night light for the kids. My favorite feature is being able to dim the halo light.

This is a super easy way to add a can style fixture to an existing electrical box without boring holes in your ceiling for the typical can style fixture. The profile is slightly larger than a typical recessed can but I actually like the style and look better. Also, there’s a cool night light incorporated in the frame that illuminates in a gentle ring. Great bonus feature. There are several ways to mount the can based on your setup. I needed the metal frame that screws into the existing junction box. My only complaint is the provided screws were not long enough and my original screws were too big to fit the frame. My house is only two years old so that was a little odd as I figured I have pretty common building materials. No worries though, I have a whole bunch of random screws and bolts so I made it work. The light itself is very bright and you can change the color temp of the bulb before installing. The light clips into its frame easily and snugs up against the ceiling as well. I really like the look and the ambient night is a cool bonus feature. Highly recommend if you’re looking to a “can” style lights or just want a neat looking minimal light fixture.

This is one of the more difficult reviews I’ve written as the product ranges from one star to 5 stars based on the following.
First the bad (which I would rate as one star):
The product description along with the lone piece of paperwork included in the box all indicate this is a 6 pack of lights, however I only received one light. Maybe it’s because I’m a Loop member and product reviewer, but I would be careful when ordering the set. It’s confusing when the paperwork states it’s a 6 pack yet the quantity indicates 1 piece.
The other problem is that there are no instructions. Simply a box full of clips, screws, mounting brackets, wires, and electrical box, along with the light. As long as you have the time to tinker with the various parts, you can figure out which parts are useable for your mounting as which parts are not.
I ended up mounting mine within an existing 5″ recessed canister after trial in error with the various parts I was able to use the mounting clips and small screws, attach these to the light itself, discard the electrical box and mounting plate, and use the wired bulb attachment to screw into my existing light socket.
Instructions would have saved me a lot of time.
Now the good (which I would rate as 5 stars):
The light itself is sealed within the housing and very clean looking. It has a switch on the underside that gives you 5 different light setting options. Soft white, warm white, cool white, daylight and cool daylight. All 5 work and offer great options. I like the daylight since my location is outside a clothing cabinet that needs good lighting.
If you use the light with the mounting clips on an existing canister light, the fit was perfect and allows the light to be tilted.
The 2 wiring harness options are great. One is to hardwire to existing electrical wires, the other is attached to a light bulb base which screws into an existing light socket.
Although I didn’t use it, the electrical box has spring clasps that make mounting in a ceiling very simple. You will need to use the mounting plate for this.
Product states the lights are dimmable but I cannot verify this as I don’t have it hooked up to a dimmable switch.
As I said, this is a great light but it needs instructions. I’m a seasoned handyman and it took me way too much valuable time to figure out my mounting options.

I was surprised at how bright this little recess light can get. I really needed more light in my kitchen over my sink and I did not like the hanging one I had because it often got dusty and the grooved glass cover made it had to clean and not to bright. It took only fifteen minutes from start to finish to change to the Utilitech UT 4 IN CCT 3-1 UNIV Dl White 4-in 600-Lumen Switchable White Round Dimmable LED Canless Recessed Downlight. It comes with 3 ways to install. You can use what is already there in your ceiling, or use the box that comes with it, or install in existing box with the E26 screw in base. It comes with quick wire connectors also to make it even easier and faster to install. I now have bright clean white light over my sink and can see everything clearer. I wish I would have known earlier how easy it was. It only took 2 tools and a chair to hang. I also like how it made my kitchen look a little more up-dated.

This is a top-quality LED light with outstanding installation options. I’ve installed numerous LED replacement lights of various sizes in all sorts of configurations. This light has the best combination of installation configurations and included hardware that I’ve ever seen. It includes the hardware for three different installation configurations and has a light color switch to allow for light color selection. The first photo shows the installation configuration for installing in an existing light mount box. It includes the snap-in mounting ring plus screws that attaches to the box and a wiring harness that snaps into the light wiring. The other end of the wiring harness has quick connector ends to allow simple wire plug-in connections to the box wiring without twist connectors. The second photo shows the configuration for installing in an existing can light. It includes the spring wings to install the light in the can. The wiring harness plugs into the light wiring connector and has a screw-in plug to screw into the can’s outlet. The third picture shows the installation configuration for new installation in drywall. It includes the junction box with spring clips on each end to allow a firm install in the drywall. It also includes a wiring harness that snaps into the light wiring and quick connector ends to allow simple wire plug-in connections to the wiring without twist connectors. See the fourth photo showing the light color selection switch. This allows you to pick the light color of your choice and ranges from soft white to cool daylight. I installed this light as a replacement for a two-bulb incandescent fixture in our bedroom closet. The included hardware made it easy to attach the mounting plate and the wiring harness was simple to attach to the new light and existing wiring. Quality product, good features, easy installation, and adaptable installation options make this a great value. Highly recommend.
